What is the ETB?

The Electronic Trade Board (ETB) is the web based system for Flight Attendants to trade, drop, and pick up sequences.

ETB Transactions are:
— Flight Attendant to Flight Attendant
— First come, first served and have no impact on Open Time

ETB can also be used to:
— Pick up sequences over your vacation.
— Trade Reserve days off
— Trade Reserve standby shifts
— Pick up, drop or trade Reserve awarded/assigned trips

ETB Processing Timeline

Processing

ETB activity can be processed up until report of a sequence. Crewroom trades are still available through Crew Schedule, after report. ETB transactions are real-time (immediately) EXCEPT during TTS processing or during PBS processing. In most cases, ETB transactions are processed right away although it may take up to 2 minutes for Crew Portal to show ETB activity.

During Nightly TTS Processing

2300 to 0400 HBT

While TTS is processing nightly, your ETB transactions will be queued and processed after TTS completes. This is done to avoid conflicts with TTS as the same trip from your ETB transaction may be involved in a TTS transaction.

You are still able to search and create posts, they just won't process until after TTS finishes.

During Monthly PBS Processing

Noon DFW on the 15th until Noon DFW on the 20th

Any trip touching the last 3 days of the month will be rejected by ETB during the PBS processing timeframe. These transactions will not be queued and must be posted again after PBS awards are complete. This is done to reduce month to month conflicts with your PBS award.

NOTE: The last 3 day freeze is lifted after PBS bids are final on the 20th so you can then enter your ETB transactions - HOWEVER, the first ETB run doesn't occur until after the first TTS run completes at 0400 HBT on the 22nd, that is when your ETB transactions will beging processing.

ETB vs TTS Removal Codes in Your HI1

Flight attendants can drop, trade or pickup from either ETB or TTS regardless of how you acquired the trip.

  • Trips picked up from ETB will have an OE code.
  • Trips picked up from TTS will have a TT code.

It is your choice how you would like to handle those trips. You may pick up a trip from ETB and then subsequently trade or drop it on TTS and/or ETB.

Additionally, you can pick up a trip from TTS and/or trade it on TTS and ETB.

ETB Post Types

Type Visibility
Public Posts Public Posts can be seen by anyone looking at ETB
Private Posts Private posts are directly between individuals
Crew Posts Requests are sent to each Flight Attendant on a specific sequence. It is possible to set 'Not accepting trade requests' for the sequence if you prefer not to receive Crew Posts.

Multiple Sequences in a Single Post

In ETB, a Flight Attendant can add multiple sequences in a single post.

When you are creating a post for dropping sequences and you are adding more than one sequence, you are telling the Flight Attendant picking up the post that you want to drop all the sequences together. The Flight Attendant picking up the sequences is agreeing to add all those sequences to their schedule. It is essentially an “all or nothing” transaction.

If you are only interested in picking up one of the sequences posted, do not click on the Accept button. You can send a private trade request to the flight attendant posting the sequences for a single trip.

If you have posted all your sequences together in error, delete your post and then list them as individual drops.

ETB and Reserves

When to Use ETB while on Reserve

Trade Days Off

Reserves may create or accept a trade request for off days, however all trades must still conform to the JCBA rules

  • No more than 6 days of consecutive reserve availability
  • No less than 3 days of reserve availability
  • Minimum of 2 days off in a row
  • Maximum of 8 days off in a row

Deadline for Reserve Trades: 14:45 the day prior to requested day off.

NOTE:
During the daily ROTA run, days-off trade requests are queued. Once awarded a RAP, reserves may not trade days off for the RAP day or following 3 days to avoid changing the reserve’s grouping

Standby Trades

  • Trades processed until 2 hours prior to earliest shift involved
  • Trades must originate on same day
  • No trades will be processed after 14:45 for same day standby
  • Shift duration has no effect on trade (4-hour can trade for 6-hour shift)
  • All reserves involved must be available for at least the same number of days required by the standby (i.e. If 2 days available, can’t trade into a standby that requires 3 days of availability)

Pick Up a Trip on Days Off

In general, reserves may pick up a trip reporting after 10:00 and releasing by 18:00 on last day. However, it is also possible to pick up prior to 10:00 by doing the following:

  • Contact crew scheduling at the completion of your RAP or Sequence (the day prior to your off day)
  • Ask to be released for the remainder of the day
  • Use ETB to process your transaction

Drop a Reserve Assigned Trip

Reserves may drop an assigned trip, but this will lower the reserve guarantee by the value of the trip.

* Once the trip has dropped, you are not available to crew scheduling and you may not pick up flying during the footprint of the dropped trip.

Tips for Success:

  • Trades processed until 2 hours prior to earliest shift involved
  • Trades must originate on same day
  • No trades will be processed after 14:45 for same day standby
  • Shift duration has no effect on trade (4-hour can trade for 6-hour shift)
  • All reserves involved must be available for at least the same number of days required by the standby (i.e. If 2 days available, can’t trade into a standby that requires 3 days of availability)

Reserves may drop an assigned trip, but this will lower the reserve guarantee by the value of the trip.

* Once the trip has dropped, you are not available to crew scheduling and you may not pick up flying during the footprint of the dropped trip.

Vacation Trades Through ETB

Flight attendants can create vacation trade posts or search for trades through the ETB just like any other type of transaction. Vacation day trades are processed automatically and will be reflected immediately on your schedule.

Trading vacation days is similar to doing a trip trade.  Trade requests must be fore the same number of days.

Vacation Trading Rules

1. Trades cannot create an additional grouping of 3 or less days.

Example: You accrued 12 days of vacation this year. You bid a block of 9 days and a block of 3 days. You could not take 3 days from the 9 day block to trade because that would create an additional group of 3 days. If you do not have a vacation grouping of 3 days or less, you may trade into one.

2. The deadline for submitting a vacation trade is the 5th of the month, prior to the vacation. In other words, if you want to trade your January vacation for a March vacation, it must be submitted by Dec 5th.
