4.03.23 – American Airlines Flight Attendants File for Mediation; Systemwide Picketing Continues

(Euless, TX) — On Tuesday, April 4th, 2023, American Airlines Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA), will continue systemwide informational picketing events at nine Flight Attendant bases across the United States.

This week in Washington, D.C., Pete Enriquez, a MIA-based Flight Attendant, recounted an assault that occurred while he was on duty. APFA’s position has been clear and consistent: Ensure these offenders face prosecution to the full extent of the law with appropriate enforced fines, criminal penalties, and applicable flying bans.

Yesterday, management informed APFA of an issue with the new 10-hour FAR rest implemented in December 2022. A review of the April bid awards showed that the new rest requirements were not incorporated into the PBS run.

Coverage Needed (CN) is a term applied to a day in a bid month that occurs when not enough Flight Attendants bid in PBS to fly on that day. PBS will allow as many Flight Attendants to be off on a particular day (whether it’s a holiday or not) as possible
