1.06.23 – 2023-24 Annual Vacation Buyback Now Open

The Annual Vacation Buyback process is now open. It will close on Friday, January 13th, at 1200 (CT). In accordance with JCBA Section 8.F., Flight Attendants have the option to buyback a portion or all vacation days accrued during 2022 (carryover days are excluded).

Your APFA Negotiating Committee is hosting a virtual Negotiations Town Hall on Wednesday, January 18th, from 2 pm until 3 pm (CT). The Negotiating Committee will be discussing the status of negotiations.

1.04.23 – First Reminder: Willingness-To-Serve Notification for Base Representative Elections

On December 19, 2022, the National Ballot Committee posted the Willingness-to-Serve (WTS) for Base President, Base Vice President, and Base Council Representative (BCR) for BOS, CLT, DCA, DFW, LAX, LGA, MIA, ORD, PHL, and PHX. Willingness-to-Serve notifications must be electronically submitted to APFA by January 18, 2023, at 1000 (CT).

1.01.23 – The ROTA Glitch That Stole New Year’s Eve

Company IT glitches continue. Yesterday, it was immediately clear that the Reserve Open Time Assignment (ROTA) award for January 1, 2023, was flawed. APFA immediately engaged with the Director of Crew Scheduling and other members of upper management. While we still don’t know what caused the issue, IT has been investigating to determine the root cause.

We continue to receive reports that some members are experiencing issues with logging in to the new APFA website. We have confirmed success logging in if you try a different browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, IE).

Negotiations continued in November and December. During these sessions, the company and APFA exchanged updated proposals on Section 10- Scheduling. APFA also passed our opening proposal on Section 12 – Reserve.

Winter Storm Elliott could bring blizzard conditions to parts of the Great Lakes as well as high winds to the East Coast, affecting travel leading up to the holiday weekend. Bitterly cold air could reach Texas, the Gulf Coast and Florida. In the event of a cancellation or reschedule, we want you to have a clear understanding of your responsibilities, as well as Crew Scheduling’s obligations.

12.20.22 – Coverage Needed (CN) Dates – January 2023

Coverage Needed (CN) is a term applied to a day in a bid month when not enough Flight Attendants bid in PBS to fly on that day. PBS will allow as many Flight Attendants to be off on a particular day as possible, whether it is a holiday or not.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that it has delayed full enforcement of the Real ID. It was supposed to go into effect on May 3, 2023. Full enforcement will now take effect on May 7, 2025.
