Today, we celebrate and honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a civil rights activist who promoted civil disobedience (nonviolence) methodology to effect change. Dr. King pointed out the inequalities of segregation while stopping short of calling for violent confrontation, allowing for a middle-of-the-road reformation of civil rights.

1.11.23 – FAA Systems Causing Systemwide Delays

This morning, the FAA Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM) system experienced an outage, resulting in a nationwide ground stop. This has caused delays and cancelations for departures and arrivals into and within the United States. As of 0800 CT, the FAA reports that the system is back on line and departures have resumed.

Although it is difficult to know just how many people fall victim to trafficking, millions are living in modern slavery conditions. In the United States alone, it is estimated that there are 200,000 incidences of human trafficking each year.

The Annual Vacation Buyback process is now open. It will close on Friday, January 13th, at 1200 (CT). In accordance with JCBA Section 8.F., Flight Attendants have the option to buyback a portion or all vacation days accrued during 2022 (carryover days are excluded).

1.01.23 – The ROTA Glitch That Stole New Year’s Eve

Company IT glitches continue. Yesterday, it was immediately clear that the Reserve Open Time Assignment (ROTA) award for January 1, 2023, was flawed. APFA immediately engaged with the Director of Crew Scheduling and other members of upper management. While we still don’t know what caused the issue, IT has been investigating to determine the root cause.
