Coverage Needed (CN) is a term applied to any day in a bid month when not enough Flight Attendants bid in PBS to fly on that day. PBS will award as many Flight Attendants as possible to be off on a particular day.

With the ratification of the 2024 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), APFA Flight Attendants will receive a one-time retroactive payout, covering the five years of extended negotiations. This payout is valued at $514 million.

Depression is the most common form of mental illness in the United States, with around 22 % of adults suffering from depression as of 2022. Too often, depression is misunderstood as simply “feeling sad”.

3.04.23 – Negotiations Update #21

We bargained with the Company in January and February. During these sessions, the company and APFA exchanged updated proposals on Section 10- Scheduling and Section 12– Reserve.

Flight Attendants based in CLT, DFW, LAX, MIA, ORD, and PHL should have already received their ballots for the 2023 Base Representative Elections. The last day to request a duplicate ballot is tomorrow, March 2, 2023, at 12:00 pm (CT).

2.28.23 – Primary Round of 2023-24 Vacation Bidding Closes Tomorrow

The Primary Round of Vacation Bidding will close tomorrow, March 1st at 1200 (CT). Primary Round awards will be posted no later than Tuesday, March 7th at 1200 (CT).

2.28.23 – Fourth Quarter 2022 – APFA Executive Committee Meeting Final Agenda

2.28.23 – APFA EAP Critical Incident Response Program (CIRP)

As stated in a previous hotline, the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Professional Standards, and the Critical Incident Response Program (CIRP) (formerly known as the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT)), will soon be one group working collaboratively to offer seamless support for Flight Attendants.

2.27.23 – UNICEF Change for Good Supporting Turkey and Syria

A new UNICEF Change for Good (CFG) PA is now available in Comply365 for eligible flights through March 31.

We want to share more information on the Cabin LOSA program. Cabin LOSA is a safety program, not a program where a Flight Attendant could be disciplined, terminated, or reported by co-workers.

2.24.23 – Celebrating 30 Years of the Family and Medical Leave Act

February marks the 30th anniversary of the job-protected Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). At its conception, Flight Crews were not eligible because our work hours did not fall under the definition of “hours worked” under the FLSA, making us unable to satisfy the 1,250-hour requirement.

2.23.23 – 2023 Base Representative Elections & Voter FAQs

Flight Attendants based in CLT, DFW, LAX, MIA, ORD and PHL should have received their ballots. Ballots must be received in the designated Post Office Box no later than 1000 (CT) on March 9, 2023.
