Short Call Makeup Procedures

Beginning May 1 Flight Attendants wishing to fly makeup will have an additional option. Currently, any trip that opens with less than three hours to departure will be given to a reserve. Due to the time constraints the makeup list is not run. For those Flight Attendants who are at or near the airport, wish to do same-day flying, and qualify for makeup may request “short-call makeup.” Short-call makeup will be used only for trips that open with less than three hours to departure.
After placing yourself on the makeup list, you may add yourself to the short-call list. The computer will only allow you to input the current day–future dates will not be accepted. You will also have the opportunity at any time during that day to delete yourself from the short call list. Please add your name only if you really want to fly; if there are too many names, scheduling may not be able to complete the list and will assign it to a reserve. It would help to let scheduling know specifically what you want so they won’t call if it isn’t something you wish to fly.
Once you put yourself on the short call-list, an “A” will appear on the makeup list next to your name. If a sequence meeting the criteria comes available, you will be called in seniority order from the “A” list. This is still makeup and you are not obligated to take the sequence.
Please remember that reserves would have flown these trips under the old policy; this is not a violation of seniority. If you are willing to take a trip on short notice, we encourage you to add your name to the list.
To add your name to the short-call makeup list, type HISCM/BASE/DATE/A in your personal mode. To delete your name, type HISCM/BASE/DATE/D.
