If you are considering retiring in the near future, please call 1-800-447-2000. You should tell the representative that you intend to retire and the date you intend to retire. You should also call your Flight Service Manager so that they can cut the payroll authorization (PA). This can be done within 24 hours; however, your first pension check may be delayed while paperwork is completed. It is best to provide 30-60 days notice.

Flight Attendants who have been divorced while an employee of AMR must make sure that the court order is on file with American Airlines. Missing documentation will likely delay your pension payments.

All pensions are paid on the first of the month. For this reason, it does not matter what date someone actually retires. The first check will be due on the first day of the following month.
