At the core of the success of UNICEF’s Change for Good® program on American Airlines are the employee volunteers, also known as “Champions for Children.” More than 5,000 American Airlines flight attendants volunteer during their working hours to collect foreign and domestic currency contributions from American Airlines customers on all inbound and outbound international flights, including Canada, Caribbean, and Mexico, plus Hawaii.

Since 1994, AA Champions for Children have raised more than $18 million to support UNICEF’s lifesaving work, including developing education programs, expanding maternal and neonatal health programs, and responding to emergencies such as the 2010 Haiti earthquake and COVID-19 surge in Latin America.
