ELECTION NOTICE
Pursuant to Article VI, Section 2 of the APFA Constitution, Notifications of WILLINGNESS-TO-SERVE are now being accepted for the NATIONAL OFFICER positions of NATIONAL PRESIDENT, NATIONAL VICE PRESIDENT, NATIONAL SECRETARY and NATIONAL TREASURER. A complete list of duties for National President, National Vice President, National Secretary and National Treasurer can be found in the APFA CONSTITUTION ARTICLE III. SEC. 6.
CANDIDATE INFORMATION
This election is open to all members in good standing. Each candidate must be a member in good standing by 0900 CT, December 10, 2019. Any member in good standing may self-nominate her/himself or may nominate another member. Candidates not self-nominated will be contacted by the National Ballot Committee to confirm their Willingness-to-Serve. Withdrawals must be made within three (3) days after the Willingness-to-Serve due date.
VOTER INFORMATION
To be able to vote, each APFA member must be a member in good standing (no more than sixty (60) days in dues arrears) no later than five (5) days prior to the date the votes are counted (“balloting date”). The balloting date is January 29, 2020, therefore you must be dues current by January 24, 2020. If there is the need for a run-off election, the balloting date is March 9, 2020 and you must be dues current by March 4, 2020. A member will also be eligible to vote if he or she is on an official APFA payment plan that was executed at least thirty (30) days prior to the balloting date which means you must be on the official plan by December 30, 2019 for the primary election and by February 10, 2020 for any run-off election.
ELECTION TIMETABLE
Willingness-to-Serve Notifications must be electronically submitted by 1000 CT, December 10, 2019.
Ballots will be mailed December 30, 2019. Ballots must be mailed back and received by 1000 CT, January 29, 2020. If no candidate receives a majority (50% plus one) of the valid votes cast for a national office, the National Ballot Committee will mail a run-off ballot to all members no later than February 7, 2020. Ballots for the run-off election must be mailed back and received by 1000 CT, March 9, 2020.
The elected National Officers will assume office on April 1, 2020 for a 4-year term ending March 31, 2024.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR WILLINGNESS-TO-SERVE
The Willingness-To-Serve (WTS) form is now Electronic and can be found on the APFA website www.apfa.org. The National Ballot Committee will no longer accept paper Willingness-To-Serves. The only acceptable form is the electronic form found on the APFA website. There is a signature line at the end of the form that you will need to sign electronically. There are instructions on how to sign the form on the WTS. Once you have completed the form, you will click the submit button. You will receive a notice that your WTS has been submitted and a copy sent to your email address you provided along with an Entry ID#. It is important that you keep this ID# for your records. The National Ballot Committee will not be able to retrieve the WTS’s until the date and time specified, but will be able to see the Entry ID#’s. You need only submit your WTS one (1) time, but if you submit more than (1), for any reason, the NBC will only use the last one received. Please remember that you may only run for one (1) National office. Each candidate’s information will be reprinted with a consistent format, and no graphics will be included. All candidate’s information is optional, including personal statements and references. There will be no corrections made to spelling, punctuation, grammar, capitalization, intent or content. If limitations are exceeded, personal statements will be cut off at the limit and biographical information will be brought into compliance by deleting the oldest items.
If you are nominating someone, we ask that you fill out any/all sections of the WTS including references, personal statements and biographical information as all of this will be included in the candidate booklet and the candidate you are nominating will not have the opportunity to fill these sections out after the WTS is received.
It is the responsibility of the candidate to inform references that their name will be printed and mailed in the ballot packet. As a reminder to all prospective candidates, the use of the APFA or the American Airlines logo, symbol or insignia on campaign material is prohibited.
