Willingness-to-Serve Notice: 2023 Base Reps
Election Notice
Pursuant to Article VI, Section 2 of the APFA Constitution, Notifications of Willingness-to-Serve are now being accepted for the Base Representative positions of Base President, Base Vice President and Base Council Representative (BCR) for the following bases: BOS, CLT, DCA, DFW, LAX, LGA, MIA, ORD, PHL, and PHX. A complete list of duties for Base President, Base Vice President and Base Council Representative (BCR) can be found in Article III, Section 7 of the APFA Constitution.
Candidate Information
This election is open to all members in good standing. Each candidate must be a member in good standing by January 18, 2023, at 1000 (CT). Any member in good standing may self-nominate or may nominate another member. Candidates not self-nominated will be contacted by the National Ballot Committee to confirm their Willingness-to-Serve. Withdrawals must be made within three (3) days after the Willingness-to-Serve due date. Please refer to the APFA Policy Manual, Section 14.G.
Virtual Candidate Forum
On January 19, 2023, at 1100 (CT), the National Ballot Committee and APFA National Secretary Josh Black will hold a virtual candidate forum. All candidates are strongly encouraged to attend to learn more about the election process and ask questions.
Keep an eye out for the newly re-designed elections page on the APFA website throughout the election. We will be adding candidate information/booklets as well as a link for anyone who needs to request a duplicate ballot.
Voter Information
To be able to vote, each APFA member must be a member in good standing no later than five (5) days prior to the date the votes are counted (“balloting date”). The balloting date is March 9, 2023 therefore you must be in good standing by March 6, 2023. A member will also be eligible to vote if an official APFA payment plan was executed at least thirty (30) days prior to the balloting date by February 7, 2023, for the election.
Election Timetable
Willingness-to-Serve Notifications must be electronically submitted by January 18, 2023 at 1000 (CT).
- Ballots will be mailed February 7, 2023.
- Ballots must be mailed back and received by March 9, 2023 at 1000 (CT).
The elected Base Representatives will assume office on April 1, 2023 for a two-year term ending March 31, 2025.
Instructions for Willingness-to-Serve (WTS)
Any active member in good standing may nominate themselves or another member.
The Willingness-To-Serve (WTS) form is now Electronic. APFA will not accept paper Willingness-To-Serves. The only acceptable form is the electronic form found on the APFA website. There is a signature line at the end of the form that you will need to sign electronically. There are instructions on how to sign the form on the WTS. Once you have completed the form, you will click the submit button. You will receive a notice that your WTS has been submitted and a copy sent to your email address you provided along with an Entry ID#. You need only submit your WTS one (1) time, but if you submit more than (1), for any reason, only the last submission received will be used.
Each candidate’s information will be reprinted with a consistent format, and no graphics will be included. All candidate’s information is optional, including personal statements and references. There will be no corrections made to spelling, punctuation, grammar, capitalization, intent or content. If limitations are exceeded, personal statements will be cut off at the limit and biographical information will be brought into compliance by deleting the oldest items. You will not be provided an opportunity to make revisions to the candidate booklets provided to the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee.
If you are nominating someone, we ask that you fill out any/all sections of the WTS including references, personal statements and biographical information as all of this will be included in the electronic candidate booklet. The individual you are nominating will not have the opportunity to fill these sections out after the WTS is received.
It is your responsibility to inform references that their names will appear on the Willingness-to-Serve that is sent to all members of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee.
